Foresthaus is led by Mark, a lifelong maker with a deep, hands‑on relationship with materials, craft, and the built environment.
It started at age ten in his family’s wooden toy workshop — sanding edges, shaping parts, learning how things fit together. That early experience set the tone for everything that followed.
Art college. A degree in 3D Design & Craft at MMU. Designing high‑end concrete furniture. Working for a leading UK sculptor and managing the development of artist studios and workshops. Running the modelmaking and wood workshops at MMU for four years. Shaping surfboards in North Wales. Designing and building camping pods and garden offices. Site‑managing major UK festivals. Working on every kind of building you can imagine.
Different materials, different scales, different pressures — but always the same thread: making things properly, understanding how they work, and caring about the details.
That journey eventually led to the Forest of Dean, where everything clicked. A lifetime of craft, design, building, and problem‑solving now comes together in one focus: high‑performance, natural‑material retrofit inspired by Passivhaus and EnerPHit principles.
Foresthaus is the result — a practice built on clarity, comfort, and craftsmanship.
